RFI: How Much Difference Can it Make to Have a Mobile Phone in the Breath Room?
The Alcohol Test Committee in Canada states that radio transmissions should not be made from the breath room where an approved instrument is being used to test the BAC of an arrested driver. But why? What difference does it make? Don't these instruments have automatic systems that detect RFI? And what if the source of the transmission is an ordinary cell phone?
I respectfully urge police officers to turn their cell phones "off" when testing subjects.
