Does your police detachment have a sign on the breath room wall about using a surge protector?

It is essential that defence lawyers preparing for cross-examination of a qualified technician on an over 80 trial find out whether or not there is a local detachment practice of using a surge protector on the power supply for the 8000C approved instrument and its accessory equipment. One of the best ways to prepare for such cross-examination is to obtain photos of the breath room. Another possibility would be a Freedom of Information Application directed to the police service requesting any memo, directive, or training on the subject.

Practice seems to vary across the Province of Ontario. This is an image taken in a breath room by a professional photographer hired by the defence. It is apparent that this detachment takes quality assurance seriously.
